The Housing Consortium of Everett and Snohomish County advocates for resources to help every member of our community have a safe and affordable home.
In Snohomish County -
At the local level, we are working with Snohomish County and stakeholders throughout the community to develop an Affordable Housing Action Plan for Snohomish County. The plan will identify strategies that will increase the supply of affordable housing in the county over the next ten years. It will create a bold vision with concrete steps for achievement that will engage the public and private sectors in affordable housing production.
In Washington State –
We work with State Legislators and affordable housing advocates to promote legislation that will support the development, operation and preservation of affordable housing in Washington.
Our 2008 State Legislative Agenda contains the following items:
- $100 Million Increase for the Housing Trust Fund
- Renew the Washington Families Fund: $8 million new investment
- Preserve Manufactured Housing Communities
- Provide a Sales Tax Exemption for Low Income Housing Construction
We work in cooperation with the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance and the Washington State Coalition for the Homeless to support legislation for affordable housing.
In the nation –
We monitor Federal housing legislation and support adequate funding for HUD programs, including the Section 8 voucher program. Along with the National Low Income Housing Coalition we support the creation of a National Housing Trust Fund.
