For our October Lunch & Learn Series session, we welcome Emma Scalzo from Balance Our Tax Code for a presentation exploring how progressive tax reform in Washington State can generate sustainable revenue streams to advance affordable housing and community equity. Washington's current tax structure is among the most regressive in the nation - placing the greatest burden on those with the least - while underfunding essential housing and social programs.
Emma will highlight key legislative priorties from BOTC that aim to "close the gap" by ensuring Washington's wealthiest residents and corporations contribute their fair share. This session will connect the dots between tax justice and housing justice, showing how equitable revenue policies can help build the homes, stability, and opportunity that every Washingtonian deserves.
