About the event
The May Lunch & Learn session, “Faith Partnerships & Land: Unlocking Church-Owned Property,” will explore how faith-based land can be transformed into impactful affordable housing through thoughtful partnerships and development strategies. The session will walk participants through common development models for faith-owned land - including ground leases, joint ventures, and property sales - highlighting how each approach balances mission, control, and financial return.
Participants will also examine the unique barriers and opportunities that come with faith-based partnerships, from governance structures and congregational decision-making to values alignment and long-term stewardship. The session will emphasize how to align a faith institution’s mission with appropriate risk tolerance and development outcomes, ensuring projects are both feasible and community-centered. Attendees will leave equipped with the tools and confidence to initiate and structure meaningful conversations with faith institutions, positioning these partnerships as a powerful pathway to expanding affordable housing supply.
